About

Ian Hills started writing songs and poems as a child and has never stopped.
Writing poetry and music does not provide a reliable income, so Ian developed his interest in people into a career. He studied psychology at Queensland University in the sixties. After graduating he practiced as a psychologist more or less continuously until his retirement. He has written about his life and career in a memoir series: "Through a hedge backwards".
Ian continues to be a spiritual seeker and an active campaigner for the environment, peace and human rights. This is often reflected in his poems and songs.
Ian has been single, a family man and a divorcee. He has four children and numerous grandchildren who add depth to his life, his writing and his practice of psychology.
He lives on a bush block in a house he built himself and spends his time writing, playing music and going for long drives through the Australian countryside.
