Ruud Vermeij (1959) is a self-taught Dutch photographer who works from the gut. He's a people's photographer, an observer in the background, portraying his objects in an nonjudgmental way, as they really are. He loves to capture nonverbal communication, the unspoken body language, the subtle, hardly noticeable gestures rather than the outspoken and obvious ones.
He's particularly fond of making photographs that tell stories, in snapshot style and sometimes with a Norman Rockwell-ish kind of touch.
