Shira E. Landman


About

Shira Landman was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1965. She has lived in Italy, France, Israel and the U.S., where she attended The Academy of Art University in San Francisco. After 12 years in New Mexico, Landman moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she continued making art and working as a set medic on movie sets. She worked one summer on True Detective close to Fort Pike where she was introduced to the current Park Rangers. Her environmental art in metal and sculpture focuses on her interests in wilderness, wildlife, landscapes, and endangered species, particularly on the themes of life and decay. Her environmental Art "Lioness" (2001) is featured in Lucy Lippard's book Undermining.
