Stromness Museum is a fascinating museum with displays about Orkney's maritime and natural history, as well as the story of Stromness. Since 1837 the museum has amassed a unique and fascinating collection - something for everyone.
Opening times: April – September 10am - 5pm 7 days a week
October – March 11am – 3.30pm Monday - Saturday

Learn how to survive in the arctic through displays about Orkney man Dr John Rae, Sir John Franklin and the Arctic Whalers. Find out about local connections with The Hudson Bay Company and the Canadian Fur Trade.
On show are artefacts salvaged from the German Fleet, scuttled in Scapa Flow in 1919, in sight of Stromness. The Victorian Natural History Gallery has a magnificent bird collection complemented by displays of eggs, fossils, sea creatures, mammals, butterflies & moths.
