Brett Rudy is one of the co-founders of Charity Hop, a sports marketing firm that helps athletes raise money for their favority charity. Recognizing a glaring need for fundraising assistance to sports related organizations and charities, Rudy and his business partner, Mike Lembo, started the full service consulting business in 2006. With a vast array of professional athlete partners, clients and causes, Charity Hop is making their impact felt in the Boston philanthropic community and well beyond.
Charity Hop is best known for their work with Charity Wines, an organization that releases wines that feature famed athletes and their causes. The athletes receive no compensation, donating all their proceeds to charity. Some of the partner athletes include David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox, Jorge Posada of the New York Yankees, Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves, Ken Griffey Jr of the Cincinnati Reds, Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins and Ray Bourque of the Boston Bruins.
Spoiler alert: I'm thinking my next book will be about...
More of the same.... As we keep knocking out exciting charitable initiatives, I'll keep knocking out the chronicals of the journey.
Everyone needs to know about these authors and artists...
Ironically, since Charity Hop was founded, I no longer have time to read books. I used to read one or two a week! These days, I pretty much stick to Sports Business Journal and Baseball America. Is that bad?
This book is addictive. Read it. (At your own risk.)
It may not be addictive, but I think it is truly awesome. Charity Hop accomplishments are so over-the-top that most agents or charities think we're trying to pull the wool over their eyes when we explain what we can do for their athlete or cause. That is actually one of the reasons for this book: To show the fans, agents, athletes, and all the nay-sayers that this is not only possible to accomplish, but HAS been accomplished. We raised $1,000,000 in a year. Sometimes, I don't believe it myself.
