About
My career in photography started when I picked up a camera in 1982 and began photographing bands in Philadelphia's new music scene. What followed was stringer photojournalism work, a move to New York to study the art of photography at SVA where I earned a BFA. After traveling the country, working as a custom printer and photographer, I settled down in Minneapolis. In 1996, with the help of an artist-in-residency grant from Healthy Powderhorn, I started my freelance business.
Creating honest, compelling images and working with people is what drives my work. Assignments and collaboration with a variety of national and regional organizations, publications and individuals has given me the opportunity to explore the art of capturing moments, and how that translates into visual storytelling.
