Claire Lerner was born and raised in New York, New York. She received her MFA and BFA in Fine Art from the State University of New York at Buffalo. After graduate school Claire moved to California where she was a member of the photography faculty at Monterey Peninsula College, Monterey, California for ten years. For the past fifteen years she has taught studio art, black and white photography, and digital arts at the Santa Catalina School in Monterey, California. She has conducted many workshops on various photographic processes including Cabrillo Arts summer 2011 workshops.

An internationally exhibited and celebrated photographer for more than 20 years, Claire Lerner returned to painting about fifteen years ago. Using the same eye for subtlety and delicate color that make her photographs so compelling, her floral, still life, and bird canvases are an insightful celebration of the beauty in both nature and paint.
