Catherine Gass born and raised in St. Louis Mo. received her MFA in photography from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Photography department. She is also the photographer for The Newberry Library in Chicago. She is the recipient of a 2003 Chicago Artist Assistants Grant and  2002 Illinois Arts Council Assistants Grant. Her work has been previously show in New York at the Organization for Independent Artists, Kaufman Arcade, Minneapolis: at Open Book, in Chicago at the Noyes Cultural Center, Artemsia, Randolph Street Gallery and elsewhere.
