Anecdotes about my ancestors in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. These include the first Quebec explorers and builders, French, Irish and English Acadian farmers; Orkney fur traders; Ontario railroad builders; Irish builders of the Rideau Canal; early settlers of Manitoba; and various United Empire Loyalists including the families of the Dutch founders of New Amsterdam, the German Palatines, Hessian soldiers, and the founders of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
