David Harvey was a professional photographer living in Tucson, Arizona. With a life-long interest in astronomy, he took spectacular images of the night sky, facilitated by his access to powerful mountain top telescopes in his "day job" as a systems engineer at Steward Observatory, University of Arizona. "Catching the Light" is a collection of some of his best images of Tucson's desert landscape and wildlife, San Xavier Mission, meteor showers, galaxies, lunar and solar eclipses. Each photo includes educational commentary about the production of the image as well as thoughts and anecdotes. Sadly, David Harvey passed away in 2012. This book, begun several months before he died, is a tribute to his vision and talent.
