About
Doug retired from public education after teaching elementary and high school art for over 30 years. He currently serves as a Baptist minister and enjoys painting at his home studio in the NC foothills. He graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Art and Art Education and from Gardner-Webb University with a MDiv. His paintings have a ethereal and mystic quality. He usually incorporates collage, watercolor, acrylics, colored pencils and other materials seeking to create works that highlight a variety of textures and his love for drawing. "Places" are his preferred inspiration, especially those found in the South Mountains and the Blue Ridge he lives near.
