Dave Gurley was born to his loving parent Lawrence & Mary and Sister Laura. Together, they lived & played in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Here in the mountains, Dave learned to love the outdoors and Hot Chili. Dave moved to California to go to school at Brooks Institute. Dave's roommate Mike Shire referred to the experience as Photographic Boot Camp! After college, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and pursued a career a Custom Lab Mural Printer. During this time he work on his fine art and the alternative - historic photo processes. Most of his work was commercial, portraiture, landscape-travel, and fine art nudes. After 15 years in the labs, Dave suffered a back injury that ended that path. He went back to school and then found his way into education. He is now in his 12th year of teaching high school photography and lives in Oakland with his loving wife Valerie.
