Patrick Wright was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, four minutes after his identical twin brother. His family moved around a lot when he was little, but eventually settled in a rural farming community, nestled in the southern Appalachian Mountains.

In the early days of living in that community, he experienced the transformative power of seeing the world through a lens—particularly the lenses of his father’s binoculars and telescope.

Using these and similar tools, Mr. Wright learned that there is much more to see in this world than “what meets the eye.” He also gained a lifelong love and passion for discovering the world through the aid of a lens—something that Edward Weston referred to as, “seeing photographically.” It is this passion that eventually led him to become a photographer. His main interest as a photographerlies in documenting all the wonderful things he finds to be aesthetically pleasing with an emphasis on formal beauty and lyrical narrative.
