|My Bio||Gene Dewell is a native of the Commonwealth of Virginia. He was born in Newport News in 1931. At the age of seventeen, he left home to attend college. His college studies were interrupted by service in the U. S. Air Force at the end of the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. It was at the University that he became interested in genealogy. In Indianapolis he met and married his wife, Jeanette, and they were blessed with three children. Gene joined IBM in Indianapolis and worked there in sales as a systems engineer. After seven years he was transferred to Raleigh, North Carolina. He now lives in Cary, North Carolina. He retired, after 24 years with IBM, in 1991. He spends his retirement visiting relatives in The Commonwealth, serving in The Church, traveling, reading history and presidential biographies, and researching his ancestors.|
