|My Occupation||Artist and teacher|
I am an artist and qualified teacher with a passion for colour, especially watercolour. I paint in a range of styes from totally abstract to totally botanically accurate, and from black and white to bold colour. I work in all media but enjoy watercolour the most. I teach drawing and watercolour and give workshops on colour mixing and watercolour technique.
I have exhibited in the USA, Singapore, Taiwan, China and Australia and am a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute.
|Spoiler alert: I'm thinking my next book will be about...|
The first was Watercolour Mixing Charts (showing literally hundreds of paints mixed together), the second was The Ultimate Mixing Palette: a World of Colours (a watercolour reference book containing just about every colour you could mix with a 15 colour palette). |
Next up will be a coffee-table style book showing 35 years of my art work.
Then a technical book on plein air sketching with a range of materials - showing all that colour mixing in action
Then perhaps one on Working with Triads.....
|Everyone needs to know about these authors and artists...|
There is an amazing website, www.handprint.com, which has more information on watercolours, their properties, the pigments used and so on than I have seen anywhere else. Remarkable!|
Another great colour and watercolour author is Michael Wilcox. He wrote a guide to every watercolour manufactured that has had a huge impact on the manufacture of watercolour paints, and he has written a number of books about colour and colour mixing, the most famous of which is 'Blue and Yellow don't make Green'.
