Art, in some way or another, has always been an important part of Heather’s life. She began her artistic career as a painter, and she used her paintings as a vehicle to explore personal and social issues. Although the stroke of the brush has been replaced with the exposure of light, Heather’s vision has matured over the years from high school, to college, and finally, to a freelance practice as an artist. She graduated from the Minnesota State University, Moorhead, in 1998, with a Bachelor’s of Art degree with a concentration in photography. She found the camera to be a tool that was challenging and complex enough to express all that she wanted to say in her new voice. Throughout her career, she has been in various solo and juried shows, and has won numerous awards.
