Ilse Koning THE PHOTOGRAPHER For me photography is an extension of the natural impulse to explore the larger world. On my travels around the world I visited beautiful places, and always had a camera with me. Gradually, over time, I wondered: how can I better capture the essence and feeling of what I saw, experienced and felt. That was the point that I started to follow several courses in photography and more important to practice a lot more to develop more skills as a photographer. There is still a world to explore for me, literally and in photography. On my trip to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica (2009-2010) I fell in love with the sense of magnitude and moody isolation of this part of the world. That is what I tried to capture in my pictures. And I hope that is what you will find in this book. |
