Nancy Lehrer: Computer Scientist by profession, classical musician by history, and photographer by passion.
My earliest memory of picture taking dates back to the 5th grade. Armed with my father's Kodak Brownie camera, I set out to document a week at a beach-side camp. I was soon dubbed the camp photographer and my photos were published in the camp newsletter. With the same camera, I documented the wedding reception for my grandmother's third wedding. I was 9.
My first SLR was a Canon AE-1 purchased in 1978. I used this camera exclusively for 22 years. My gear consisted of a single 50mm lens and an external flash unit. I have hundreds of slides from this period, which, one day, I will organize and digitize.
As my career in Computer Science matured, the time available to me for photographic exploration dwindled. But everything changed in May 2006. With the purchase of a Canon Digital Rebel XT and discovery of the online photo community, Flickr, my passion for photography has been rek
