Julie McGuire is a British born photographer based in Connecticut, USA. She specializes in animal and pet photography and also undertakes commercial and editorial assignments. She is committed to a long term personal project documenting the roles and lives of dogs around the world, which she began while living in India for nine years and traveling extensively throughout Asia. One of these stories, "Hounds of Hope," which shows daily life at the Penang Animal Welfare Society in Malaysia was recognized in the prestigious World Press Photo Awards 2014. Her work has been published in international news media, including The New York Times, The Guardian (UK), The Sunday Times (UK), and has appeared in major photo festivals and exhibitions around the world. She is a member of the Royal Photographic Society (UK), a member of the National Association of Press Photographers (USA) and a regular contributor to Barcroft Images (photo news agency).
