James L Forand was born and raised in New England where he spent his formative years developing a love of technology, poetry and sports. He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a BS & MS in engineering.
Upon graduation, he began a ten year career in research and development in the steel industry. He was awarded 18 US patents from the US Patent & Trademark Office. He began his steel industry career at Inland Steel; then moved on to Bethlehem Steel Corporation. While at Bethlehem Steel he received an MBA from Lehigh University.
He achieved executive managerial experience after completing business training at Harvard. He served as Managing Director of Bethlehem International Engineering Corporation and as President & CEO of BIEC International Inc. He conducted business in thirty-five countries where he sold rights to intellectual property.
He is working on a textbook on intellectual property titled Leveraging Intellect.
