Jennifer Mackey was born and raised in the Sacramento valley of California. Her completion of studies in art history and studio art were in northern California in 1979. She now lives between Humboldt County and the San Francisco bay area.

Her work has been exhibited internationally and she has received several awards for her surface and textile designs.
