I create artwork that evokes a story shared between the artist and the viewer. My ideas are generated from realistic observation, infused with my own creative speculation and the constant question, “What If?” I look at people and objects and wonder what stories rest within them, aching to be told.
I am drawn to subjects with intriguing textures, forms, and lines, often bringing unexpected subjects together. My works explore the intricacies of nature and how those patterns are repeated in manmade objects as well. Trees, wood, stones, and bricks appeal to me because they embody a wisdom that comes from endurance through the passage of time. I often include those elements in my compositions to create the metaphors and stories that I want my work to convey.
