About

Laura Halsey Brown is an interdisciplinary artist intersecting art and architecture. She received her MFA from California Institute for the Arts. In New York City, she showed her installations and moving image works at venues such as The New Museum (as part of 2001 LMCC World Trade Center residency), White Columns and Art in General. She curated media programs for venues on the East Coast such as The Kitchen, The Knitting Factory, Woodstock Center for Photography and Philadelphia Center for the Arts. She moved to Rotterdam, The Netherlands and received a Stimurlingsfonds poor Architecture grant to create public art works focused on local architecture, architects and the public having a voice in ‘their’ architecture. She moved to San Francisco and started senseofplace LAB in 2008 based on her research. She has received grants nationally and internationally; awards such as being included in the 2012 Mastermind Award Exhibition, San Francisco.
