Melitón Hinojosa Jr. was born in El Sauz, Texas to Melitón and Guadalupe Hinojosa in 1948. Melitón Jr. was a migrant in the 1960’s where he and family migrated to California to pick grapes and do other types of field work. Melitón Jr. got his Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree from Texas A & M Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas. He has taught automotive technology in San Benito High School for 27 years in San Benito, Texas. Melitón has being published in such books as Puentes and other anthologies through Texas and Mexico. His poem “I want to be/Quero ser” won an honorary mention in Austin’s International Poetry Fest in April of 2011. He was invited to read in San Miguel de Allende’s Feria del Libro de San Miguel de Allende in October of 2009. Meliton is pursuing a degree in Chicano Studies from the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. Upon completion of his studies he plans to teach Chicano Studies at the college level.
