I am a freelance educator, writer, and editor living in Tokyo, Japan with my wife, Kaoru, and our two cats. I grew up mostly in Michigan, joined the U.S. Navy after high school, and eventually landed in Hawaii. I attended the University of Hawaii and received a BA and MA in History.
