My day job is that of an entomologist/collections manager at the University of Michigan. I've been photographing since I was 14, and I use a variety of film cameras, ranging from cheap plastic “toy” cameras to Nikon SLRs and various medium-format cameras. I also use digital, and though I love my Nikon D70s, I really enjoy shooting with older manual film-based equipment.
My photographs are a combination of what my mind sees, the opportunity before me, the capability of the equipment I am using, and the kind of light that is hitting (or not) the scene. Sometimes they all come together to form a great image. I'd like to think that it happens more often than not.
