Michael Flicek began a serious pursuit of fine art photography in 2005. This gave a much needed sense of purpose to his pursuit of photography. Photography, in turn, gave a sense of purpose to his travels. The exploration of beauty and emotion in nature, people, and human design is his quest. His work has won awards in national and international competitions, been selected for juried exhibitions from the west coast to the east coast, and been selected for publication in COLOR Magazine.

He has degrees in philosophy and psychology with a doctoral degree in school psychology. He worked as a psychologist in a clinic and schools for many years and in recent years he has worked as an educational researcher in a public school system.
