Michael Mitchener is a Toronto-based photographer, canoeist, part-time painter and transit nerd living in the Leslieville neighbourhood.

Self-taught, he's developed his artistic style and J-stroke by exploring Toronto's diverse neighbourhoods and Southern Ontario's waterways by foot, streetcar and canoe.

His goal is to capture a spark of magic in the ordinary, connect with nature in and outside of the urban oasis, and better appreciate the subtle beauty and irony that surround us.
