May Kovalick was born and raised in Hong Kong. After graduating from high school, she came to the U.S. to attend university. She graduated with degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley.

May had a career in the software industry in Silicon Valley. In 2001, she left her position as Engineering Director to spend a year in London with her husband. Upon returning, May spent time studying and pursuing her passion in photography. Her photographs have appeared in a number of venues in Northern California.

May enjoys travelling and does volunteer work. She and her husband live in Santa Clara, California.
