I was raised on a small family ranch in Oregon. Mom and Dad worked hard each day while my two brothers and I helped with the chores. On weekends, our family of five traveled to local rodeos where Dad team roped on his favorite horse, Candy.

My dream was to teach elementary school, which after graduating, I did for 33 years. I spent almost my entire career in first grade, what an exciting challenging age to teach!

In 1975, I married my grade school sweetheart, Michael. We lived in Grants Pass, Oregon, Mill Valley, California and back to our roots in Oregon.

Now that I have retired, i have time to pursue another passion... writing. What better topic to write about than my best friend, Mom. She was always a positive force in our family regardless of the challenges. She and my Dad passed away the same week of March 2009!

I pray that Mom's kind, loving, positive spirit will touch hearts through my book, Mumkin's Recipes For Life!
