Since receiving my first Instamatic camera in 1966 I have always had a love for photography. After going to several workshops with nature photographers, as well as being involved with the art association here in the Kern River Valley, I have continued to enjoy my hobby. My Grand daughter, Brittany Lallo, a poet and I got together and created this book.-Nell Rolls

From the tender age of 11 I have been writing poetry. I felt the need to express the angst of childhood and adolescence in a way that to me, takes something difficult and frustrating and turns it into something beautiful that I can be proud of. I still feel the same need as an adult land always will. Some people use a paintbrush, some use an instrument, I use a pen. I don't claim to be a master, but my poetry lifts my spirits and I hope it will do the same for someone else.
