I have been described as an "amphibian" in that I have education, professional experience and licensure as both structural engineer and architect. For the past 15 years I have developed and taught courses in building structures geared for architectural students. I have taught at Virginia Tech, Philadelphia University, the University of Maryland and currently at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

I am a founding member and past president of the Building Technology Educators' Society (BTES) (, the only North American academic society solely dedicated to the advancement of pedagogy in the areas of construction and structural technology for architects. The BTES is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
