My Bio Richard Nilsen was art critic for The Arizona Republic in Phoenix, Ariz., for 25 years. He was also the classical music critic, the dance critic, the opera critic, the architecture critic and the backup movie critic. He has written for every section of the newspaper except the Business section. He has been a photographer for more than 40 years. Now retired, he lives in the Blue Ridge.

Everyone needs to know about these authors and artists...
You can't go wrong with the classics. I doubt it can be explained that the very first book written in Western culture remains the best one ever written: The Iliad. (Odyssey not bad, either). Homer can expand in an fraction of a second from a twitch in the mouth of a bee and open up to the width of battlefield. His compass is everything.
This book is addictive. Read it. (At your own risk.)
