I like exploring. That in itself is rewarding but it’s the occasional surprises that make the process worth it. A picture works for me if there’s a degree of ambiguity. Without the before and after, a picture (frozen in time) has the potential to subvert what really happened. To me, this triggers an emotional response that is all the stronger if it proves playful, whimsical, irreverent or plain absurd.
I’m interested in the British disposition and how this is displayed in leisure activity. I think people reveal something genuine about their character when they are just ‘passing the time’.
