Simon Unwin was born and grew up in Sheffield. He has lived in the Peak District since 1985, for most of this period at Ashford in the Water, where he spends much of his time watching and recording the wildlife of the area. He has been a chef, a factory worker, a printer, national park ranger, nature reserve warden, writer, mountain rescue dog-handler, hill-walker and climber.
Now he’s a poet.
He drinks whisky and swears too much, but offers the excuse that life in twenty-first century Britain leaves him a lot to swear about. He is married with three children and a grand-daughter.
