About

I have been a wildlife biologist for the last 15 years. I worked in the Northern Mariana Islands for 3 years. It was my time in the Northern Mariana Islands that inspired me to write Coco the Coconut Crab.

The coconut crab is the largest land invertebrate in the world and is the central character in my book. My first visit into the jungle, I was told the local legend of the fantail. For the characters in the story, I integrated parts of their natural history. Megapodes really do bury their eggs in volcanic soil. There really is a species of snail called Partula that gives birth to live young. The crow is one of the most endangered species in the world with only 80 pairs left in the wild. And they are all found in the Northern Mariana Islands.

I currently live in San Marcos, Texas with my husband and work for Texas Parks and Wildlife.
