Susan Saibara’s photography has blossomed since 2005 when a tumor impaired the use of her left arm. She had spent the previous 25 years shooting underwater photographic images and winning awards for her work in international competition. The injury could have closed a door in her life.
However, having learned from her illness that life is short, Susan re-directed her creative energies to land-based photography. She is presently working on several bodies of work even as she receives treatment from a new recurrence of her illness. She says the joy she derives from her photography and book publishing is good medicine for her spirit.
Susan’s underwater photography was featured as a part of the commercial recording, “Deep Still Blue”, by the New Age musicians “2002”. She is also the author of 3 books, “Goofballs”, “Forever Fish”, and “The Costa del Sol Report”. She resides in Houston, Texas. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
