My Bio
|
I have been making photographs for over 30 years. I have always made a living from photography. Up until April of 2007 I ran a studio and gallery in the English Lake District market town of Kendal. The decision to close the studio was huge but since moving to the Rusland Valley my photography has taken a new direction. I had always made personal work on large format cameras, mounted on a tripod. The process was slow and considered, utilising the zone system and carefully contemplating the composition. Since making the move to the country I have worked with a hand held 35mm camera. The work is still pretty much landscape but I really don’t have a particular point of departure. Instead I wander through the landscape, rural and urban, recording what I see. It has been a truly liberating experience and certain themes are already beginning to emerge.
