About

The transfiguration of reality through the media and my continuous preoccupation over the years with issues dealing with political and everyday life violence always results as the guidance which inspires my creativity.

Name: DESPINA MEIMAROGLOU

Born: Alexandria-Egypt in 1944.

Studies: graphic design, painting and typography at Maidstone College of Art in Kent, UK (today’s Kent Institute of Art & Design) from 1961-1965.

Moved to Athens in 1966 and started working as graphic artist and later on as art-director in advertising for the following 10 years.

My work is expressed in a number of mediums: photography, video, space-specific installations, printmaking and artists’-books.

From 1981 onwards I've had 24 one-person-shows in galleries and art institutions and have participated in numerous important international group exhibitions in museums and art foundations in Greece and abroad.
