About

With BFA, MFA degrees I spent six years as a museum official at Des Moines Art Center, Iowa, while building a painting career. I married potter and former Drake University professor Richard Fairbanks and relocated to his native Washington state in 1966. After his premature death in 1989, I began the effort to preserve his body of ceramic art and teaching archive. In 1990 I began writing to bring attention to his work. Three University of Washington Press books have been published. In 2005 we established the nonprofit foundation in his name with our fourth book "Vessels of the Heart" published in 2009 as our first RF foundation project. Richard's ceramics have been accepted into major museum collections in the US and Finland. His work exhibited widely in this country, Finland and Japan, along with my painting. In the early 2000's, I was invited to join the New York Author's Guild where I maintain a website: wwwdixieparkerfairbanks.com for our books, art and related events.
