About

Laurie Kigner grew up on a cul-de-sac adjacent to the rolling cornfields of Marion, Iowa. She attended Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois where she majored in Fine Arts, with a concentration in printmaking, and minored in Philosophy and World Religions. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude.
Currently she lives just north of Minnesota’s Twin Cities, which enables easy access to the state’s lake-strewn countryside. Laurie primarily creates works on paper which range in size from less than a foot to 6 feet. She is also an avid photographer and often relies on her camera as a tool in the creative process.
Reading as well as listening to the written word is a major element in her creative process. Many of her recent works have incorporated the written word, sometimes using script to develop an entire image. She has also self-published several books.
Laurie has displayed her work in many Twin Cities juried shows and has also exhibited in several two-person venues. One of her
