About

Born in 1961 in Newry N.I. Lives and works Dublin.
Studied at Belfast College of Art, LCP and the Slade School

Recognised as one of the most significant Irish contemporary artists, he first became known for photomontage works based on his own photos of the Irish 'Troubles', which have since have become studied as examples of the medium.

His 1990s series ‘IRELANTIS’ has since become part of the cultural landscape, featuring on the covers of around 20 books, magazines and journals, and the subject of academic study.
In recent work he brings his visual intelligence to bear on the post-9/11 world.

He has executed commissions including video, stage design, advertisements, TV titles and permanent sculpture.
He was co-designer of the Omagh Bomb Memorial.

His work is in collections of the Irish State, the Imperial War Museum (two on permanent exhibition), Newry & Mourne Museum, Wolverhampton Museum, Allied Irish Bank, the ECB, Irish Central Bank, Citigroup, Aspen Re., BBC and Microsoft.
