Internationally renowned artist Vergie Banks who earned her fine arts degree in sculpture and metal-smith in order to diversify the type of art she creates. Banks, says she doesn't just enjoys the multi-culture of Southern Louisiana, she shares it with others and helps them appreciate the unique lifestyle enjoyed in this vibrant corner of the world through the musical paintings of Jazz, Zyde Cajun, and her signature series the Little Red Tricycle. Her most popular body of artwork which portrays a little Creole girl with pigtails on her three wheeler. It's an expression of me, but the collectors see themselves in the painting. The little red tricycle was their first mode of transportation.
Accomplishments & Accolades:
In 2002, Vergie won a Silver Addy award for advertising excellence for her design, “Squeezebox and Scrub board.” In 2003 Vergie was chosen to design the Louisiana Travel Summit poster, entitled “Fais-do-do.
