About the Book
Meet Krystyn. Krystyn is like any other little girl—she loves her family, her friends, and singing. But there is one very special thing about her: she wears braces on her legs to help her walk.
One day, Krystyn doesn’t feel well and has to go to the hospital. When she finally goes back to school, her classmates are very curious: What happened to her and why does she have to wear leg braces? Her teacher asks her to talk to the entire class about her braces. Krystyn is nervous about talking to everyone, but she doesn’t let that stop her.
Read Krystyn’s real-life story about love, family, and being brave, even when things are hard, because she knows she is wonderfully made.

About the Creator
My name is Krystyn Re’Nae Jones. I am a nineteen-year-old dancer and performer who is living with spina bifida and scoliosis. Although living with this condition has brought me to some lows, it has also helped me soar to new heights. I have broken free of the limitations that come with spina bifida, determined not to let the condition define me as a person. I hope to put all of my accomplishments to good use as a teen spokesperson/advocate for other children with spina bifida and other disabilities. If there is one thing I carry with me daily, it is knowing that I can do whatever I put my mind to. Currently, I am attending an HBCU and pursuing my dream of becoming a Pediatric Nurse.
