About the Book
Doug published The Chronicles of Gnarlier back in 2017 and thought it would his first and last but those epic memorable swell events kept showing up - Covid Winter 2020 anyone - meaning he had heaps more content to share and what better way than with an updated edition?
Volume 2 reflects back on the last 12 years with a carefully curated collection of surf photos featuring local surfers pushing the limit to ride big, pumping waves in epic, memorable sessions on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Doug provides all the key information and statistics for each featured swell event but has kept his commentary and observations to a minimum choosing instead to let the photos tell the stories.
I'm originally from Canada and have lived on Sydney's Northern Beaches since 2001. My surf photography journey began in 2007. A keen photographer with time on my hands between jobs, I took the opportunity to focus on surf photography because I'm lucky enough to live on Sydney's Northern Beaches which is blessed with some of the best swell, breaks and surfers in the country if not the world, right here in my own backyard. When I started out in 2007 my goal was to shoot and post surf photos of local surfers charging their favourite break anywhere between Manly and North Narrabeen. My work can be seen on my surf photography site wozthatyou.com.
