      About the Book

      Edit

This is a revised edition. I have been meeting and photographing homeless people in different cities across the United States. Excerpts of our conversations and their portraits which were taken on the street are displayed here in this book along with poetry and quotations I considered apropos to the feelings I felt while spending time with each individual. My intent with this project is to raise social consciousness about the homeless.

      Florida

Renato makes his home in Florida. During his travels, he almost always encounters people who live outdoors. He decided to make a concerted effort to bring attention to these people with the hope of raising the social consciousness about homelessness. His critically acclaimed self-published book, Dignity No Matter What: The Light Within (2018), is a series of portraits of homeless people along with their stories. With the proceeds going to charity, it has been reprinted three times with several thousand dollars raised for a local non-profit that works with the homeless. He continues to bring attention to this issue through his exhibitions and guest lectures. He has been featured on ABC Action News in Tampa Bay, Daytime television in Tampa Bay and WTAJ in Pennsylvania, and numerous print articles. Shows coming up include the Hillsborough Community College Gallery 321 and The Museum of Art in Deland, Florida.
