      About the Book

The wisdom of nature can be tapped into, because we are a part of that. By entering into the single activity of planting seeds or marveling at a butterfly tasting flowers with its feet, some forgotten channel opens up, and we receive insight into how we may more fully live as a part of this planet.
Garden Says, "Yes!" is a view of humans from the perspective of plants, a spring-gush of gratitude for being alive, an encouragement for those who wish to cultivate a rich and blooming inner life. Yes, you can drop the nag to be doing something else for a few minutes and fully be with trimming the rose bushes, breathing the air, hearing the crickets.
In this little book, there is an open amazement at the miraculous beauty of the natural world that we often hurry past, on our way to something else - rarely arriving completely where we are, with lines like:
"One seed, a door for sunshine to walk through and greet itself, saying, 'Happy birthday!'"
And acknowledgment of lessons learned from simply sitting in the cultivated space:
Somehow, the hollyhocks and zinnias have worked it out. Likewise with pole beans and strawberries. No cries of “You’re GREEN!” “Yeah, you’re RED!”...
You are invited to dive in to this book and maybe even give it away to a friend when you have spent enough time with it. The physical weight and crisp pages of a book in hand are a delight in themselves, and ought to be shared.

      David Pratt

David Pratt is a writer and artist living in Holmes County, Ohio. He is a life-long meditator and needs the soul play of Being in nature as an essential food group. He is grateful for the clarity and support both meditation and nature have generously given throughout his life. Dave and his wife, Alana, are also the co-creators of True Nature Holistic Retreats, a center in rural Ohio with an emphasis on restoration and teaching guests how to lead lives that are more deeply-satisfying. Guests receive treatments and classes from Dave, led by the insight and support of Breema®: The Art of Being Present and his background in meditation. Alana provides a clear foundation in yoga asana as a practice for awakening, guided by its time-honored principles from decades of practice. She also creates simple, vitalizing meals as an art in itself.
