About the Book
INTROSPECTION captures raw emotion as an image. We all have responded differently to the craziness of Covid and 2020. Not going out to make portraits of strangers as often seemed confining and I needed to do something different. I culled thousand of images I had taken over the years to combine in order to paint new images that described my emotions in a sort of stream of consciousness presentation. Urban graffiti, torn posters, backlit windows, walls, anything with color and or texture become layers to add to my images of human faces and forms photographed on the street.

Renato makes his home in Florida. During his travels, he almost always encounters people who live outdoors. He decided to make a concerted effort to bring attention to these people with the hope of raising the social consciousness about homelessness. His critically acclaimed self-published book, Dignity No Matter What: The Light Within (2018), is a series of portraits of homeless people along with their stories. With the proceeds going to charity, it has been reprinted three times with several thousand dollars raised for a local non-profit that works with the homeless. He continues to bring attention to this issue through his exhibitions and guest lectures. He has been featured on ABC Action News in Tampa Bay, Daytime television in Tampa Bay and WTAJ in Pennsylvania, and numerous print articles. Shows coming up include the Hillsborough Community College Gallery 321 and The Museum of Art in Deland, Florida.
