About the Book
In this issue, we’ve included some new features that we’re excited to share with you. We have our first ever crossword-puzzle poem, our first ever comic (that will make you want to hug your mom), and two stories written by creative kids. Please, kids, if you’re reading this, after you enjoy going through Issue #3, start writing and creating for our next issue! Next time, we plan on taking jokes and riddles along with the usual poems and stories, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with.
If you’re reading online, don’t forget to leave comments on your favorite poems and stories. The writers and artists read them and love to see how much you enjoyed their work.
Thank you for reading! We hope you enjoy Issue #3!
Heart of Flesh is a biannual, online and print literary journal that seeks quality writing and art with a Christian element. We are not a typical “Christian fiction” journal. We believe God’s truth as written in the Bible can be found in both the sacred and the secular, in nearly every work of literature and every part of the human condition. We accept work from both Christians and non-Christians from all over the world. Pure in Heart Stories is the "kid sister" of Heart of Flesh. It is a biannual literary magazine for kids (written by adults) between the ages of 6-11 years old. Pure in Heart contains Christian-themed poetry, stories, and art. A portion of all proceeds from both journals will be donated to Mission of Hope (https://www.missionofhopeministries.net/about/), a "residential Christian program focusing on men and women struggling with drug and alcohol dependency," and to Aunt Mary's Storybook (https://cjtinc.org/projects/amsb/).
