About the Book
A portrait series on Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood in the early to mid 1980's. I never tried to sneak around with my camera. People knew I was there. This forced me to be open as well as vulnerable to them. I entered an area that was foreign to me, but like the people who lived there, I loved it at times and hated it other times. I could leave whenever I wanted, they could not.
